The keepers at Woburn Safari Park have welcomed some exciting new residents – A family of meerkats! These new arrivals are the first of several new species that will be calling ‘Desert Springs’ their home - a new exhibit part of the Foot Safari area of the park which is due to open at the end of May in time for half term. The ‘mob’ of meerkats, arriving from Cotswold Wildlife Park, is made up of a breeding pair, together with their 9 pups, who vary in age from 11 months to just 1 month old.

They are all VERY cute and friendly, waiting eagerly by their door to welcome keepers with a cacophony of friendly snorts and snuffles. The mob obviously can’t wait to entertain the public with their antics!
Their new home will have a hot rock area and termite mounds, where they can hunt for their dinner of tasty bugs. They’ll also be able to keep a keen look out over their neighbouring residents - Mongoose and Porcupines!

In response to an increase in lost and stolen pets we invite you to bring your pet to be scanned to check their microchip details are correctly registered. Last year there was a problem with some chips failing i.e. they couldn’t be read - check yours isn’t one of them!
