May Bank Holiday Sunday 26th & Monday 27th May
Castle Ashby Gardens are set to host a Craft & Design show within their 16th century walled gardens. Craft pavilions will be set up and visitors can choose from a stunning range of high quality contemporary arts and crafts or more traditional work from over 70 exhibitors. A variety of art, ceramics, glass, textiles and wood will be on show and available for purchase.
Specialist growers will also be selling a range of plants and will be on hand to offer advice on making sure your plants are kept happy in their soon to be new home.
San Francisco born Jazz singer Susan Valliant Speer and her band, which includes our very own Alan Haughton, will provide live music. You can get a taster of her music by tuning into BBC Radio Northampton and listening to her regular monthly feature with presenter Bernie Keith.
During the day there will also be the opportunity to watch the falconry demonstrations in which members of the audience will be allowed to participate should they wish to do so; an excellent opportunity to see these beautiful creatures up close. Families can gather together and watch the Pinxton puppets children’s show and there is even a small animal farm, which now features meerkats (no insurance being sold here though). All in all there is plenty to keep the little ones occupied.
Major specialist wood turning demonstrations are amongst the other crafts on display. Visitors can talk to these experts in their field and buy from the actual makers. With nothing bought in or mass-produced the event showcases some of the best of British crafts men and women.
A selection of refreshments, exotic coffees, ice cream and traditional afternoon tea will be available to provide the perfect ending after a walk in the gardens. Don’t forget the Buttery at the Rural Shopping Yard though who we’re advised offer excellent food. Our chap who writes the wonderful walks you see in the magazine has taken groups of hungry ramblers to the restaurant before and all 26 went away very happy.
The Entrance fees, which include the shows and gardens are:

Under 10 free, Family (2+2) £16 Free Parking is available.
