Parking Skills!
A bone of contention in many driving families has always been the assertion by male drivers that their female counterparts are ʻrubbishʼ at parking, particularly parallel parking, and a recent AA report seems to support that assumption!
Women drivers are, evidently, more likely to alter driving plans in order to avoid parallel parking, finding it a challenge to guide the car safely into a limited kerbside space.
Most fair-minded females agree that we do find parking a challenge and reluctantly accept the AA Driving Schoolʼs opinion that, ʻWomen are more likely than men to lack parallel parking confidenceʼ.
Yes, to a certain extent all that is true, but WHY IS THAT? It may not be due to our lack of driving skills as implied, but to the LACK OF HEIGHT!
Most women drivers are
much shorter than their
male partners and sit
much lower in the driving
seat and, therefore, view
the actual kerbside from a
lower perspective. This
would suggest that short
male drivers may
experience similar
problems and tall women
be more proficient.
A similar opinion was
voiced by a female rally
driver in a recent radio
interview. Criticising male
drivers please take note
and driving instructors
alter your approach - for
Size (or Height) really
does matter!
