New midwife led, antenatal classes
Therefore I have now set up my own midwife led antenatal classes aimed to empower women to make the right choices to achieve their own positive birth and prepare them for parenthood. Birthorama antenatal classes start in June 2012, we also have classes arranged for September and December 2012. These classes are intended to be far more in depth and evidence based than other providers may be able to supply, and are uniquely led by a current and practicing midwife where other classes may not be.
Being passionate about midwifery and maternity care, I have always been interested in global midwifery cultures and practices. My affinity with Africa began when I volunteered my services as a midwife in the Gambia five years ago and experienced natural birthing by women in simple circumstances, away from medical intervention and prescriptive birthing techniques. Although African women are far from always childbearing without the obvious complications of malnutrition and tropical disease, their uninterrupted maternal intuition to birth and breastfeed their babies is inspiring. This is such a positive new venture for me and I thank all of the supporters who have aided my charity fundraising, followed me on face book, on my blog and in my new venture to positively educate women.
After returning to the Gambia again 3 years ago and recently aiding the charity Maternity worldwide in Ethiopia, I had many women request that I set up antenatal classes based around my experiences and knowledge in maximizing the chances and reducing the risks of achieving a positive birth.
Talking of new ventures, I have also changed my name! From Sally Pollock to Sally Pezaro! I hope to see lots of you booking into my new classes or booking me for a private home session!
