have had 4, 40 or more Spring-times to experience and celebrate.
As a school we joined in the celebrations for the opening of the new village shop. Mr. Udi and Mrs. Dina kindly allowed the children to visit and buy some playtime snacks and in the process to improve their geographical understandings of the locality.
Celebrate we did for Mother’s Day in traditional Sherington school mode with a fine selection of songs and readings by the children. Gifts of hand-made cards and best Lincolnshire daffs were taken home to commence the weekend break.
Our three-school Creative Partnership Project completed its first phase with illustrator and literacy expert Mrs. Liz Sharp. This workshop centred on the development of character and story sequences through

The works of Beatrix Potter delight the staff as well as our pupils and provide Year 2 with a context for in-depth study of authorship and the creation of characters in story. The Year 1 children have been looking over their shoulders eager to join in and ‘have a go’.

indeed one of those aspects of classroom life that “...floats on a sea of talk...” then the sociable
atmosphere of three schools working together, provoking meaningful dialogues and high
quality talk, was indeed fulfilling in several ways.

The Reception children, looking for Signs of Spring, seeing the earliest daffodils eagerly awaited signs of the first frogs in the school pond. They were not disappointed with the multitudes that emerged from winter torpor. After that we will look for the newts and tadpoles in due sequence. Exciting times whether you

New Life for the
12th of March in Newport Pagnell Newport Pagnell Town Council
Bookshelf Club
No we haven’t vanished, we’re just taking whatever time it may take to re-organise ourselves to take account of the world of e-books. For this those of our members best acquainted with the world of e- commerce are coming to the fore. A prime object is to ensure that our writers can enjoy some financial benefit from their work; from our very beginning we have made it clear that our members will not be called on to pay silly fees or other charges. Once the technical squad are set to carry things forward I’m sure they’ll have me tell you so, subsequently I’ll enjoy life as an innocent bystander. GB
At their meeting on 12th of March the council first spent a few minutes in quiet and prayerful reflection on the contribution to the council by the late Cllr Wharton R.I.P.
After the Mayor, Cllr Egan, had given her account of another busy month the council moved on to give some thought to the Mary Portas report on town centre rejuvenation and should we then apply for such funding as suggested in that report. No very firm view came forward on this. Certain assets are being transferred to the town from the borough and as each of these are taken up they will hopefully pay for themselves if properly managed. Under this heading Dovecoat now lies fully with the town.
The Mayor having completed her part in a charity swimathon collected her promised sponsorships so we were each duty bound to find a fiver for a set of excellent good local causes.
There were no dramatic representations from outside bodies.
A little before the Council meeting I had been with the Small Business group who are now overdue to hold their A.G.M. – members who missed this time please note, you were badly missed. Even for my greedy self this is a network choc-a-block with opportunities to work at mutual advantage. One member had taken the trouble to obtain a copy of the forms required by any town seeking advantage from Mary Portas’s proposal. The sums supposedly on offer are only modest, the paper- work is bureaucracy in full flow and the final question arose was is NP High Street in a bad way? Well surely not in this town so recently adjudged so very clean and tidy as the Britain-in-Bloom team observed. A guest from the Newport Pagnell Partnership expressed the same misgivings. GB
