It is nice to hear that one local company is benefitting from the Olympics, George Davis Turf of Clifton Reynes, whose main supplier, County Turf grew the turf for the Olympic stadium, has seen an increase in sales since it became general knowledge that County Turf were the main suppliers for the said games, George has told me.
Not so for the printing industry in England, the Olympics Committee
decided it best to send the ticket printing contract of over 8.8 million tickets to the USA, to be airfreighted some 4,500 miles, making a bit of a mockery of the fact that they are calling this the greenest games.
The turf for the Olympics amounted to 360 large rolls of turf to cover the infield, which measures 9,000 metres squared. I’m not sure what the weight of that lot was but presumably they could not get it on
the same flight as the tickets!
Anyway let’s hope their are other businesses in our region that benefit from the Olympics: If your business is one of them please contact us and tell us all about it, we’d like to hear from you.
