Newport Pagnell Swimming Club held their annual Club Championships at Stantonbury Leisure Centre during the last weekend of October.
Eighty swimmers took part aged between eight and ancient (Masters races) and 270 personal bests were achieved and eight new club records.
Particular mention goes to the Age Group Winners, Rhiannon Jeffreys, Rebecca Dougall, Sophie Patrick, Abigail Moroney and Marie Patrick for the girls and Ashley Frost, James Chandler, Cameron Sheehy, Rory Sheehy and David Willcox for the boys.
A fantastic atmosphere made for some exciting races and the Sunday evening finished with a fun
T-Shirt race involving all the swimmers.
As is traditional, the successes were celebrated at the presentation evening held at the Carlton Club in Olney, where the late disco ensured that all swimmers were grateful that the next mornings training session was cancelled.
We have been extremely busy at race meets and galas over the last two months, taking part in three
open meets and two rounds of the national arena League.
We were well represented at the Barnet Copthall Open meet in October/November with 23 swimmers taking part. An incredible 48 personal bests were achieved and one new club record for Helen Sanderson in the 200m Butterfly. Particular mention should be made to Erin Saunders 2nd in 50m Freestyle and 3rd in 50m Butterfly, Bethany Brooks 3rd in 50m Backstroke, Abi Moroney 2nd in the 100m and 200m Breastroke, James McLean 2nd in 200m Breastroke and 3rd in 100m and 200m freestyle, James Sanderson 3rd in 200m Backstroke, Amber Denton for making the 50m Backstroke final and Alex McLean for making the 50m Breastroke final.
