democratic decisions of the whole Council, and that it wasn’t for individual Councillors to go about publicising their own views if they disagreed. Steve Clark replied that he wasn’t going to discuss the point in public at this stage, and that there could either be a brief discussion in the confidential section of this meeting or he could have a private word with the individual concerned. Deidre appeared to prefer the latter option and, cryptically, that’s where the discussion ended. For background which may be relevant to this issue, look through the letters published in last month’s Phonebox.
One Stop
Andrew Dooley had seen a One Stop articulated delivery lorry park entirely on the zig zag lines leading up to the crossing on the High Street. Debbie Brock asked that, if anyone saw this happen again, they take a dated picture of the event and report it to the Council, as the shop had been warned before about this issue and the associated safety concerns it raises. Steve Clark stated that One Stop had been aware of the location and parking issues when they took on the premises.
Path
Rosemary Osborne raised the issue of the path which runs between the bottom of Wagstaff Way and the play park. It’s liable to flooding and therefore often damp and muddy underfoot. This problem has been ongoing since the estate was built and Milton Keynes Council will be discussing it at a meeting on 4th January. Then, hopefully, the problem will be addressed around two months after that.
New Town Clerk
A new Town Clerk has been appointed and will take up his post in the new year. Liam Costello has seven years’ Council experience and, currently working in Marlborough, will now have a much shorter commute to work.
The next meeting will be held at 7.30pm on Monday 9th January in the Council Chamber in the Olney Centre. Members of the public are always welcome to attend and, if they wish, speak at the start of the meeting, or at any point that the mayor decides is appropriate.
