Happy New Year all and welcome back to the first of twelve buzz features for this year. After my seasonal indulgences it’s time to think about trimming down a few pounds and focusing on how to
get what I want this year. I plan do start this approach by getting my jazz shoes on and dancing away whilst pondering about my future plans with a look of sopistication and intellect on my dashingly good looking face. If you fancy not only jazz but comedy too then I recommend you visit Cafe Brio at some point this month where not only will there be
Neal Astbury & Mike Kemp Duo Cafe Brio - Evening of 30th January
Inspired by the likes of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Matt Monro, Nat King Cole, Sammy Davis Jnr and more, Neal Astbury will be performing songs from such influences along side the legend Mike Kemp who himself has been firmly rooted in the jazz scene for many years.
For over 10 years Neal has been travelling with his ‘Tribute to Swing’ act and has performed at many prestigous events around the UK and to packed houses in the USA. Neal definitely has his own distinctive style , making his act uniquely entertaining, ‘a new feel to many of the old standards’.
Mike Kemp who originates from Coventry has travelled around countries such as France, Germany, Spain and Morocco playing originally with the Doug Richford Quartet. In 1967 Mike broadcast his first BBC radio broadcast with the Trevor Jones Jazzmen before moving on to The Millionairs big band and then onto the backing cabaret aboard the QE2. The number of bands and musical projects that Mike has been involved in could fill this entire magazine. He is perhaps best known these days for leading his piano, double bass and
drums trio.

That time of the month Comedy show The Cannon Newport Pagnell Doors open at 7pm sharp!
The incredible Andrew O’Neill returns to Newport Pagnell on Sunday 15th January, but this time as part of his new ‘Alternative’ tour. A stand-up comedian, a metalhead, an amateur occultist and a musician, Andrew O’Neill is a self confessed ‘show off’.
He’s a bit of a regular on the comedy
stages at Download, Sonisphere,
Bloodstock, Leedsand & Reading
festivals. He’s opened for Amanda
Palmer off of the Dresden Dolls, warmed
up the audience for Never Mind the
Buzzcocks, hosted the Metal Hammer
Golden Gods, played at Torture Garden
and the Bizarre Magazine Ball and a load
of other events where people mainly wear shiny things. What better way to brighten up the most miserable month of the year!
“One of the funniest comedians on the circuit at the moment... hitting new heights of comedic brilliance”.

some great musicians on show but also some burke with a rediculous look on his face dancing around like Jonathan Edwards on acid (yes you got it, me). Also up is the relaunch of the Cowpers Oak in Weston Underwood which is sure to have a nice warm, inviting atmosphere. Lastly there are some brilliant nights on again at the Stables and more comedy from TTOTM. I know we like to complain about January as being a bit of a non eventful month but there is plenty happening if we look around. Hope you all have a good month. MS
