With six months of the season gone already, time for a brief summary of this year’s fishing.
A young member of an old olney angling family, shawn mynard, has recorded three top speciment weights: best barbel, chub and a new perch record!
specimen fish so far are Barbel 11lb 8oz; Bream 8lb 1oz; Chub 5lb 15oz; Perch 3lb 15oz (new record); Pike 14lb 10oz and tench 6lb 15oz.
Club matches have fished quite well, surprising in view of the very low and clear river, but have been dominated by the very consistent Paul Caton. he won the Brimley Cup with 8lb 1oz and the spooner Cup with 20lb 2oz. With one match remaining he is already Points Champion.
our charity open matches have been well supported. the recent R.B.L. Cup match was won by nigel Porter with excellent 22lb 3oz. £130 was donated to R.B.L. the match for Willen hospice is on sunday 12th February.
