The Diet
I'm losing weight it seems to me, I'm half the man I used to be,
No more 'moobs' – they’ve shrunk to naught,
I'm healthier now, or so I'm taught,
I've shrunk so much, my clothes don't fit, My waist decreased more than a bit.
My shirts they just hang on me now.
My head and neck, same size somehow. My suits almost look as if,
They are some sort of charity gift.
Not made for me but someone else,
Just thrown on me, straight off the shelf. Oh! for the days of careless food, where I might dare,
And if in the mood, stuff myself with calories high.
And care me not for bulging thigh!
But now those days are in my past,
One way to go ... I need to fast!
Dave Price
Dear All
David and Alice Church from the
Two Brewers Olney, on behalf of
Willen Hospice, would like to
thank everyone who sponsored
them for the ‘Nightrider’ challenge.
This took place in London starting
at midnight on June 11 from
Alexandra Palace in north
London, riding our bikes through
central London down to Crystal
Palace and back again. This is a
53-mile challenge and we
completed it in 5 hours 25 minutes riding time. The route took us through many interesting areas of London: Regents Park, Regents Street, Covent Garden, Clapham Common, Lewisham, the City, The Isle of Dogs (to mention but a few) and home up Alexandra Palace hill. The final hill was a challenge being one of the highest points in London but we did not push our bikes up the hill. We had a team of six made up of the Peach family and us, Dave Peach did the challenge with us whilst Gill and Beth followed us around appearing at various places giving huge encouragement (Very
much needed after 50 odd miles). The last member of the team being a London doctor friend of ours.
As of today we have raised just short of £800, which is £300 more than our target. £500 coming from the Internet and the remainder from customers of The Two Brewers and friends, so a very big thanks you to everyone including the ‘Phonebox’ who published my article for free in last month’s magazine. I will be more than happy to tell a full account of the event to those interested over the bar whilst enjoying a pint at the Brewers.
