The Club’s most senior member, Ken Sharp, recently celebrated his 90th birthday. Ken became a founder member of the Club in its present form in the 1940s, along with his best friend, Jack Crouch, and served many years on the committee. Match fishing as we now know it became more popular in the 1950s. The Club’s first ‘Annual Challenge’ Cup started in 1949. ken himself won it in 1952 and 1956, his son Mike in 1969, then Ken again in 1971 and 1973! Quite a record!
Fishing season on rivers finished on 14th March and re-starts 16th June.
The last few weeks of the season fished quite well with good catches of tench, bream, chub, pike and perch!
