E d i t o r i a l Hi you lot!
I hope you are enjoying the good weather! It seems that we go from winter to Summer in one go ..... but that suits me.
Now, on a very serious matter – our tax bill for £250,000 as mentioned in the previous edition of Phonebox Magazine . . . which was April’s issue: get it!?
Well it’s been the talk of the town, with people phoneing in, asking us on the streets and coming into the office to show their support and even offering us a pound or two towards the contribution in the office. Some of course visited the website www.justgiving.co.uk/vatbill.
Many of you now know that it was an April Fools – and a good one! judging by the number of people we caught out .... Eat your heart out BBC, the Phonebox beats you everytime (apart from the spaghetti one of course which I’m sure is actually true).
I’ve been told this April Fool will go down in the annals of history along with the tunnel under the Bull and the Lapdancing Club under the Coop (still our favourite, and if I get the Lottery up watch out for the application form to MK Council).
If you liked our April Fool you can still donate any sum you like from £1 to Willen Hospice on the Just Giving website mentioned above.
Already our best brains are working on next year’s April Fools, but after a few pints they are, unfortunately, soon forgotten and a mad panic ensues a couple of weeks before April trying to think one up!
So, bye for now and enjoy Summer .... It’s officially here, ’cause I said so. All the best for the summer.

Dear Sir/Madam
We have come to expect an increase in anti-social activities during school holidays in Olney.
Whilst walking my dog on Johnson's Field early on the morning of 14 April, I observed the remnants of a drinking party. Empty alcoholic bottles, some of which had been smashed, littered the skate board next to the lower school. This damage was accompanied by Tesco plastic bags.
I visited the Tesco store on the Market Square and suggested to the manager that they might consider that they had the moral responsibility to manage the clear-up of the debris; besides which, it hardly did their image any good. The manager did not consider that they had any responsibility to oversee and manage the clear-up of the debris.
The next port of call was a telephone call to Tesco HQ. Their attitude was the same as the local store. Indeed, the Tesco HQ representative even tried to suggest that there may not be a link between the empty Tesco bags and the empty and broken bottles!
I then visited the Police Station, where I was directed to the Parish Council to report the incident. The Parish Council staff were very helpful and agreed to manage the clear-up operation.
