World Maths Day at Tickford Park
World Maths Day was on March 1st but we celebrated from February 28th to March second. To put maths into a real life perspective we went to Harben House and the children became events planners for the day. They had to plan a party with different year groups taking each aspect from room organisation and accommodation allocation to the provision of cup cakes and table decorations. Rooms were measured, ingredients were weighed and all items costed to ensure their imaginary party went according to plan and on budget. Back in school we had visitors from local companies explaining how they use maths every day in their work. Our thanks go to Newport Pagnell Construction, Lloyds TSB for coming in and Harben House for hosting the event. The day really brought home to the children how much maths is used in everyday life, without you even realising it!
We would like to invite anybody interested to attend our Literacy Event on Monday April 4th from 6-7.30. This event is designed to show you how you can help you child with literacy by seeing various methods and lots of available books. We will have books from the School Library Service for all ages from pre-school up, so you can see what is available for you child’s age and ability, we will also have Geoff’s Books, Arts 1 Drama and story sacks for you to see.
