Editorial
We have a few themes running through the magazine this month. One which will gain you no prizes for guessing is Valentine’s Day, or in a lot of cases three days! Because the day falls on the Monday some businesses have given us the benefit of a couple of extra days to celebrate in case we can’t manage the Monday, so Saturday and Sunday preceding the big day are there for our use -

Badger Group Needs New Members
No excuses whatsoever for forgetting this year.
Poetry is also featured inside, with our fearless and intrepid reporter going out and about, knocking at doors I believe, and finding out some of your favourite poetry; more of this inside and in future editions...
Lots of reports on events held over New Year, there are fireworks inside this issue... As well as the results of maggot racing!
Tesno also have had some success – but still need your support – see page 73.
Olney’s new Community Choir has got off to a tremendous start, see their report on page nine. And returning to running, well it’s that time of the year when the Pancake race committee need your support and entry forms are in the Nat West bank: if you are interested in running you better be quick! Hi All
My name is Mark and I am the Badger Sett Leader for the Newport Pagnell Badgers. You may or may not have heard of the St John Ambulance Badgers, they are the very junior section of the St John Ambulance.
The Newport Pagnell Sett has been going for 20 years now, and unfortunately we are at a stage where we now actually have to go out and look for new members for the Sett, generally word of mouth was sufficient to keep the Badger Sett ticking over, but unfortunately this is not the case, and the Sett has taken a sudden decline in numbers. The Badger Sett is open for all boys and girls aged from 5 to 10, and they cover a wide range of subjects from first aid right the way through to the history of St. John, during the youth members time they are working towards gaining twelve badges to gain the Badgers Highest award the Super Badger.
All our leaders, as with other youth organisations, carry a fully enhanced CRB check. If you parents or yourselves wish to know any more about St John Ambulance then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thanks in advance
Mark Lombardo
