and national averages. as examples, the expected level of achievement for an average child at the end of year 2 is 2B. We were ahead in all subjects but the gap was widest in writing which is the most difficult subject at this age. nationally 59% of children reach the required level but at emberton we achieved 73%. We also perform particularly well at the higher levels. national Curriculum level 3 is the expectation for an average nine year old child at the end of year 4. By the end of year 2, 47% of our children had achieved this already in reading (26% nationally), 20% in writing (12% nationally) and 33% in maths (21% nationally).
We’re alWays letting you know through the Phonebox about all the interesting and exciting things we do here at emberton school. But i wonder if you know about our academic success, too?
at the end of the Foundation stage we are also successful. the key measure of success is the percentage of children who achieve a total score of at least 78 points overall (out of 117) over the whole Foundation curriculum and at least 6 points out of 9 in the crutial areas of communication, language and literacy and personal and social education. at emberton school our percentage of children achieving this has risen year on year and this year the figure stands at 62%, compared with the national average of 52%.
emberton school is successful and achieves high standards. We have just had another good Ofsted inspection, details of which we cannot publish at the time of writing. But the latest set of statistics from the local authority confirm that 2009-2010 was as successful as ever. By the end of year 2, in every subject and at every level, our children achieve much better than both Milton Keynes

L e t t e r s Dear Editor
I write a request to the organisers of the forthcoming Dickens of a Christmas.
Each year, two of my friends from the North come and stay with me for Dickens of a Christmas which is always extremely enjoyable but please, please, organisers can you get some more interesting stalls for the craft fayre; each year we go to the three venues for the craft fayre and see the same old stalls selling the same old stuff (I would point out there are a handful of stalls that are very good but they are few and far between).
As it has become very boring last year we decided to give the craft fayres a miss this year unless the organisers are able to come up with different stalls.
I appreciate it must be very difficult to introduce new stalls with handmade craft but surely we can do better. I know I am not alone in my thinking as other people have said that they will not bother with the craft fayre this year.
