HAVE YOUR SAY
Letters
Dear Editor
In the March issue of Phonebox, Olney Town Council highlighted the issue of dog fouling. Unfortunately the incident I have recently experienced happened after their consultation closed on 31st March so I am writing to you in the hope that you / your readers might be able to offer some advice.
On Tuesday evening (27th April) my family and I were walking with our children up the path besides Johnson's Field when our 10 year old noticed that the owner of the dog we had just walked past had not picked up after it had fouled. With him pointing out there was an article in Phonebox about that, I thought I had better set an example and ask the gentleman whether he intended to pick up even though he was walking away.
To my surprise, and to the confusion of our children, this gentleman was rude, offensive and threatening. His concluding remark was that I had no idea about living in the countryside and should get real!
I would be grateful for any advice and comment on dealing with situations like this.

As a resident of Stoke Goldington whose home, along with many others, was flooded in 2007, I was more than a little annoyed to note in a recent Lib- Dem election flyer the claim that our local councillor has arranged flood defences for us, implying he has single-handedly solved the problem.
This is simply not the case and by attempting to take credit for something that three years later everyone can clearly see has not even been started let alone finished, Cllr Potts is being somewhat disingenuous and I suspect as a result, in this village at least, is at risk of losing more votes than gaining.
Regards, Godfrey Yeomans
Dear Sir
May I thank all those people who voted for me? I came out of political retirement to stand for election in Olney and enjoyed the experience! Many people talked about the lorry traffic in Olney, so I have decided to try and keep the issue 'on the agenda' and to the attention of the various authorities! If anyone has ideas how to do this, in a non party political way, please contact me at val.menzies@btinternet.com or 01234 713563.

Dear Editor
We have now seen the size of the wind turbine blades being transported, and the disruption caused, and also the size of those alien monsters in our landscape at Petsoe End.
I think now is the time to remind residents in this area to continue to strongly object to the proposed Nun Wood Wind Farm between Lavendon, Bozeat and Harrold before more of our lovely rural landscape, footpaths and bridleways are ruined for ever by 12 more of these inefficient, subsidised monstrosities.
More information on how to object can be found on the BLOT website www.bozeatwindfarm.org.uk

Dear Editor
Through the magazine we would like to express our joy and excitement when we drove over the hill to see our first wind turbines. It is great to see Olney embracing the winds of change and entering the 21st century with this spectacular engineering. As a landmark they are far easier to see than the church tower and I imagine are less of a blot than the original style windmills.
