Churches Together in Newport Pagnell
Minister’s Letter
Hadn’t heard of Amy Williams until now...but then she snatched Britain’s first individual gold medal in the winter Olympics since the heady days of Robin Cousins in 1980...all for sliding down some ice on a tin tray. Well, of course there’s a bit more to it than that, and you wouldn’t catch me doing it at those sort of speeds with no protection (and I wouldn’t be sure about the lycra suit, either...) She deserves a medal...and she got one.
Fifteen minutes of fame? She’s taken years to do this, and it could all have gone so horribly wrong in just a few seconds. It’s all in the preparation, you see...or perhaps you don’t see. We don’t know about the hours she spent in the gym, training, running, focussing her skills; we’re not told about the diet, the sleep programme, the practising the start of the run; we haven’t heard about the sponsorship, the deprivation, the sheer hard work. All we know is...she did it!
Which reminds me...what are you preparing for? Today, tomorrow, next week, next year. Life, death, eternity? Are you really so

competent and confident that you don’t need to think about it until it happens?
Know a colleague who is a life coach. Good for her. Think I need a death coach. No, that’s not morbid, just rather sensible. It only takes a moment to die, but the preparation takes a lifetime. Thank God for faith that helps make sense of life, and death. Fancy being a winner?

24th April - Air Ambulance - Equine Charity Fashion Show
At Bozeat St Mary’s Community Hall
7.30pm-9.30pm
Finding different ways to raise money for charity is never easy. So creating an Equine Charity Fashion Show for the Air Ambulance although not totally unique, is a fun and informative way to support an important life saving service that has no funding from the government or lottery. This public emergency service relies totally on events like this to be able to operate. The theme “What not to wear on your horse at a show” will incorporate a light hearted look at riding clothes for various disciplines. Ticket sales - Darby House Olney, Tower Farm Earls Barton, Collins at Hardingstone. Any raffle or auction prizes would be greatly appreciated.
