The official opening of the new pitches at Olney Rugby Club
Well as the nights draw in and the Summer BBQ’s are finally extinguished is been a fantastic month where I’ve managed to get out and about across the whole constituency and especially in the rural North with events ranging form the Street Fair at Emberton to the village party at Newton Blossomville; all great fun and thank you to all of you who have come up and said hello.
PCSO Olney Surgery
It was a real pleasure to be able to join our two Olney based PCSO’s to help launch their new surgery. Chris Ward and Tina Lewington have made a real impact in the town since their arrival and the surgery is just the latest in a long line of initiatives.
It is hoped to hold the Surgery every six weeks, probably on a Thursday evening but full details will be on notice boards around town. Judging from the interest shown in the first event, I can see that the surgery will prove to be a very popular event.
Newport Pagnell Muster
The long awaited Newport Muster took place on the 12th September and it was a privilege to be at the opening. Bury fields are a marvellous asset to the town and it was great to see so many people walking and raising money for worthy causes. It is clear that this is set to become a popular annual event and I’m sure that I speak for many when I offer my thanks to Richard Meredith, the muster founder, together with all the other committee members who have done such a fabulous job getting the project off the ground.
Olney Rugby Club
Equally encouraging was to be present at the official opening of the new pitches at Olney Rugby Club. This really was the culmination of an enormous amount of work by many people too numerous to mention. Having been involved in the project in a tiny way myself it really was pleasing to see such a wonderful asset made available to both the club and wider town. I doubt there can be many communities the size of Olney that can boast such marvellous sporting facilities.
Willen Hospice Calendar
As a patron of Willen Hospice I am always keen to do what I can to support them, especially in the current economic climate when many voluntary organisations are struggling to raise the funds they need to operate, alas Willen Hospice is no different. I confess I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I was asked to contribute and launch this years calendar, visions of the film ‘Calendar Girls’ came to mind but thankfully, for others at least, I did get to keep all my clothes on and the end result is a great little calendar. Please do support the hospice and buy one at the bargain price of £3.99 available from all Willen Hospice shops and other good book shops!
As I write I am about to start the mobile surgery but as ever if I can be of any assistance please do ring the office on 01908 615757 to make an appointment.
