The Good Samaritan is alive and well
Many many thanks to the gentleman driving his truck load of logs on the Carlton to Harrold road in the afternoon of 17 March this year who got me out of 15 inches of deep water. Some people may say “How did I get there in the first place, there were warnings in place.” Yes, and I saw the warnings. I also watched two cars manage to get through, without difficulties, so I wrongly thought that the water level must have dropped since they put the warning up. I decided, if others could do it, so could I – my BIG mistake !
Thank you also to the cyclist who turned around and went back to Harrold Garage to ask if they could help – they couldn’t. NO thanks to the two four-wheel drive vehicles that passed me and did not ask if I was OK or if they could help in any way. NO thanks to the Bus driver who drove right up behind me , caused a mini tidal wave which sent me floating, then reversed back causing the same situation. Thanks also to the pedestrians who were very supportive.
I made a very big mistake that day, but I am so grateful to my Knight in Shining Armour – albeit with very cold and wet clothes and boots. I hope I will be as gallant if I come across someone in need. Mr Good Samaritan – thank you very very much.
