Dear Father Christmas
News from Lavendon School
Visit to the Royal Albert Hall
On the 17 November staff, parents and
children from Class 3 and Class 4 travelled to
London to take part in the Barnardo’s
children’s concert at the Royal Albert Hall. We
had a very exciting day which everyone
thoroughly enjoyed. The children, some who
had never visited the Royal Albert Hall before
had an amazing experience. On first seeing the auditorium the children gasped in awe of its beauty and size. We ate lunch sitting on the steps of the Victoria and Albert Monument opposite the Albert Hall, in brilliant sunshine.
After practising during the afternoon we were well rehearsed and ready to sing in the evening performance. At 6.30pm the house lights went down and the concert began. The singing was very moving and the children looked to be really enjoying themselves on stage. The songs were varied with some from the popular High School Musical and others from ‘Scrooge’. The finale was the traditional ‘Land of Hope and Glory’.
When the concert finished, we climbed back up the many flights of stairs to the gallery to collect our belongings. We then began our journey back to Lavendon seeing some of the Oxford Street Christmas lights on our way. We arrived back at School at 11.40.m, 48 very tired children (and staff!) who had had a wonderful day.
Cross Country Competition
Children from Lavendon once again competed in the Milton Keynes Schools Cross Country event on Saturday 3 November at the Bowl. As a small school it is always difficult to get enough runners to enter all categories of the race, so we were pleased to be able to enter at least two children for each. Our team did well and we were very proud of the effort they put into training for the event and their determination to succeed on the day. Pictured here proudly wearing their medals are Guyon, Lewis, Phoebe, Sophie, Stanley, Richard, Tim, Jamie, Kennedy and Alice. Well done all of you!
