With the festive season looming let me be the ‘first’ to wish all our readers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
One of the joys of Christmas, for a lot of us, is the shopping. No, I have been told that this is the case, honestly...
Global warming and our carbon footprint is another topic that comes to mind when one scrapes the ice of the car windscreen...
So, with that in mind, I think this year we should all try to shop local for as many of those presents and other items we requre before even thinking about venturing further afield. Our local shops have a lot to offer, and we certainly don’t want to see the demise of them. A bit of searching is sometimes required but I’m sure it’s better than that search for a car parking spot in cmk, it took someone I know 45 minutes before they gave up last weekend. And the local parking is usually free! No traffic wardens to zap you with that device they’ve got.
Now that I’ve got that wind out of my sails we look forward to some excellent events throughout the Christmas period, from Pantos, Dickens Market and Service, Christmas Lunches, Orchestras, Crib Services, Bazaars, Maggot Racing (yes, see page 34), not forgetting Kieren’s Lights (page 32 tells you more). Plenty to do and plenty of choice for those presents within the mag – just have a look inside! Ron Hall, Editor
