Continued...
So the break time buzzer was about to go and I decided to slip out of Mr Hurley’s class and head down to the reception and courtyard area. I walked along the dark black slate tiles and approached the wooden carved reception desk, at this moment in time I forgot I was in a secondary school and felt like I was about to book into a 5 star hotel: with fresh flowers, a plasma screen TV and the smiley smiley receptionist, it would definitely be a warm welcome to this prestige school. Now fully equipped with headphones, recording microphone and mini-disc player I decided I would greet some of these ecstatic students and ask them their opinions on the new school. First to approach me at my journalistic position was ‘Olneyite’ (term for residents of Olney) Charlie Smith. After asking her what her views were of the new school she quoted “It’s all rite, from what I have seen so far it looks very good. At the moment its all new and stuff, but I’ll have to wait and see when I settle into it.” After thanking her for her kinds thoughts and reassuring her that it’s a fantastic opportunity to have to be in this new school, I then pondered which innocent students I should target next. After glancing around the courtyard in- front of me I noticed a group of loud girls, shouting everything at each other as if they were at a loud concert. They were giggling and congregating more and more, it was in fact my sister (Paige) and her friends. I walked over to them and after only taking three steps they were already running towards me screaming “Interview me! Interview me!” After getting all of them into one, ‘sensible sized’ group I then began probing them with tough questions:
What's your first impressions of the school?
It’s smart and very spacious. I like it because it’s colourful and tidy. The architecture is very impressive and it has been constructed well. Has it been worth the wait?
It took a bit long to get finished but now that we are in it you forget about the wait.
Did you get to lay in this morning?
No, my mum woke me up early.
Mhari look its your boyfriend (points)
What do you think the best part of the school is?
Going home haha. Errrm, the sports hall, the dining room, the plants, the seating area outside and the outdoor furniture. The best part is that the year 9’s can go over to the muga and be away from us because they are very boring. There are also lots of socialising places. Do you think the canteen is big enough?
For us now I think it’s ok, however next year I think it will need to be bigger to accommodate everyone. (another child): I don’t think it is big enough because there is not enough seats. It’s smart but you are only able to seat four at a table which is a problem when you have a large group like us of 10 people.
Do you think you should be able to eat outside?
Yes I do, I think we should be able to eat on the wooden seated area. We are not allowed to eat out here but that teacher is eating an apple (points). The problem is litter.
Will you be taking part in outside of school activities now?
Not yet, I will have to see at a later date.
Any other comments?
Yes, I think it is unfair that we currently are bussed to the Newport Pagnell Campus to take part in the dance club however we have to find our own source of transport back. I think its very sad and upsets me a lot.
Thanks to Jessie, Gillian, Laura, Susie, Paige, Rhianna and Mhari
So the new school is finally open and although there is till a few teething troubles, it truly is an awesome school. It will be a great asset to the community and I look forward to reporting on it’s progress. I would especially like to thank Mr Sands for giving me permission to visit the school throughout the project and for all the support he has given me. I wish him all the success with the new school and I’m sure he will go down in history! Watch out, there will soon be a Wikipedia of him! Haha.

MK Dons Vs Shrewsbury
So it’s another season in League 2 for the Dons, after watching the second leg of the play-offs at the National Hockey Stadium I was disappointed with the lack of passion from some of the players. However, with the new ‘StadiumMK’ pioneered by Pete Winkleman, I’m sure our local team will be highly motivated to succeed in front of the ever growing fan base. Come on you dons!
