Olney Get the Seal of Approval
Rugby Club Awarded RFU and Sport England Accreditation
Olney Rugby Club has been handed the prestigious RFU Seal of Approval and Sport England Clubmark accreditations to recognise the high standard at which the club operates.
The highly coveted awards recognise that the club provides a safe, effective and child friendly environment for all players, volunteers and members and has in place good management and development plans.
In order to achieve the high standards required and satisfactorily complete the application process, Olney RFC set up a Club Development working group over a year ago to examine existing procedures and put in place new elements required, such as a development plan and child protection policies.
President of the Rugby Club, Mannie Howkins, said, “I’m absolutely delighted that we’ve achieved these awards. The submission process was very rigorous and lengthy and it’s a significant achievement for the club to get this recognition. Olney RFC is an excellent rugby club with opportunities for everyone to get involved whether they be minis, juniors, seniors, ladies or girls. We by no means will be resting on our laurels either – we have ambitious plans for our club and an excellent set of volunteers to drive these through.”
The club is unveiling the plaque at a special luncheon event later this month. Town Mayor Paul Watson and Mark Lancaster MP will be in attendance along with Bucks RFU representatives, local community members, and key club sponsors.
