Hello again
We’ve had a fairly busy time over the last
month or so, although obviously not as much
as the Mayor. Cheryl and I have attended three
MK Dons home matches and they’ve won each
time so I’m hoping that they’ll ask me to be their lucky mascot!
I officiated at a recent Citizenship ceremony at the Civic Offices in Central Milton Keynes. This is the final process for people who have been granted British Citizenship by the Home Office. It is a happy event and there were people from all over the world, including Russia, Sri Lanka, Somalia and Hong Kong. It is a great honour to welcome these people as new citizens, not only to Milton Keynes, but to Great Britain.
We attended the Open Day at the MacIntyre Centre at Great Holm and it was wonderful to see the terrific work that they do there.
The holidays are now over and it’s back to work with a vengeance. I think that over the coming months both the Mayor and I will be busy and I’m looking forward to letting you know how we get on.
Best wishes, Cllr Mike Barry, Deputy Mayor of Milton Keynes, Ward Member for Newport Pagnell North
