Olney Tennis Club
EVENTS
The American tournament on Sunday 11 June, a day of blazing sunshine
and high temperatures, was a great success, though players looked rather wilted by the end of play. Simon Barter was declared the winner after three hours of practically non-stop tennis, winning just one game more than four other players who tied for second place.
Sunday 16 July (1-5 pm) is the next Play Tennis day at Olney Tennis Club, arranged under the auspices of the LTA. As usual there will be the speed gun to test your serve, stringing service, rackets to try out, other merchandise, refreshments and a few give-aways. The event is open to the public
and everyone, old and young, is welcome to turn up and join in. Let Wimbledon inspire you! Contact Andrew Barr for more information on 07795 143980.
CHARITY AMERICAN TOURNAMENT
Anne Bacon is again organising a charity tournament on Sunday 17 September in aid of Breakthrough Breast Cancer. Last year’s tournament was a great success with the maximum turn-out of players and it raised a sizeable contribution for the charity; we expect this year to be similarly well supported and remember, there is only a limited number of places available. For more information or to sign up to play, phone Anne on 01234 240782.

JUNIOR FOCUS
TOURNAMENTS
The club tournament for 9-12 year olds will be held on Saturday 16 September, probably in the afternoon. An entry form will be posted on the Junior notice board after half-term so those wishing to enter can add their names.
On Saturday 23 September an all day tournament for junior members aged 13 and over is planned, with both singles and doubles competitions running that day. Last year’s event was well-attended and hotly contested and we expect this year’s tournament to have a similarly high standard of play. Again entry forms will be available after half-term.
MATCHES
Olney’s juniors had another very successful winter season with the Under 12s team winning their division in the MK Tennis Leagues and the Under 15s team coming second in their division. Very well done to all concerned! The junior summer season is now underway and we hope the two teams will have similar successes.
