                                 What’s inside?
Aren’t England doing well? As I
write this the sky is blue, the sun
is shining and the England team
are coming together quite nicely.
Six goals against Panama... If
only I had drawn England in the
Phonebox sweepstake, I would
have a few more goals to my
tally; but it’s not over yet....
Newport Pagnell Football Club have their annual friendly against MK Dons on July 7th. I’m sure they’ll have a great day and hopefully score a goal or six!
For our music lovers, the shock announcement that the building of several homes near the famous Stables venue in Wavendon, which could possibly lead to it’s closure, has caused quite some concern. The fear is that house purchasers, who could complain about noise levels from the venue, would force it to alter or change it’s opening times, which would have an adverse effect on it’s business. Let’s hope that sense will prevail with the powers that be. On a different note Olney’s Dee Dookhie has Braved the Shave and, with the help of others (see page 38), has raised a fantastic amount for Macmillan Cancer Support. Well done Dee and all who helped.
This month, possibly more than any other, we have a plethora of events coming up. We have featured loads of them in the magazine and in our What’s On section we have the usual monthly listing, so you have another month of fantastic choices. If you attend any of the events and want to comment on them, why not write in and tell us, I’m sure the organisers would be pleased to get some feedback and if you have taken a picture or two, why not send them in as well. We’ll try and get them in the next issue.
We’ve got some great competitions in this month’s magazine, three to be precise, and that’s not including the kids’ section! The Floyd Effect, (p11), The Darkroom School (p48) and the punk band The Theatre of Hate (p81). So why not have a try... you might just do a bit better than I am in our World Cup Sweepstake!
And returning to the subject of the beautiful game, we have a great article on page 84 featuring Walter Hunt’s visit to The National Football Museum in Manchester recently, entitled A Family Day out for Football Fans, I’m sure that most of us, football fans or not, would be interested in this historic museum. ~ Ron Hall, Editor
