Blue skies and sunshine are
here at last, but the wait will
be worth it ... especially when
you see what’s in store for us
all in the coming months. We’ll
be featuring the main events
locally for June in this issue, with a couple of teasers for the forthcoming months, but believe me, there’s lots to do; you will not be disappointed.
The local council election results are in and there are a few new councillors who have been elected, but mainly no overall change in the running of things. Congratulations to those elected, who now have a great responsibility in looking after us. We wish you well! ‘The Buzz’ this month is full of things to do, as are our ‘Heard it Through the Grapevine’ pages. A new feature, ‘Boredom Buster’, also has two pages of interesting activities, with a competition to win two tickets to the Teddy Bear Festival at Woburn Abbey, to be held on Sunday 10th June. And not forgetting our ‘What’s On Diary’, which is a full four pages of events.
In this weather one’s thoughts often turn to that tipple that is becoming very popular at the moment, yes, Gin. So it was nice to see that The Fruity Farmer, from Stoke Goldington, scooped the “Best Local Drink Product 2018” in the recent MK Food and Leisure awards for their Seville Orange Gin. Of course our region is blessed with great businesses, and another local business, The Bell and Bear in Emberton, were awarded “The Pub of the Year Award” and the “Best use of Local Produce”. Well done to Jon and his team for the great job they have been doing, for many years now.
Oh, and let’s not forget Father’s Day, Sunday June 17th.... We’ve brought together a nice selection of goodies and experiences that your Dad might just enjoy, just in case any of you need a little help in choosing.... but you’ll have to turn to page 48 for that! Ron Hall, Editor
